The ideal response is to use the Daito to block Kote and stab in deep with the Shoto and continue walking around until you exit behind the opponent.
The Henka is doing the same but with the Shoto. The Keiko no Ho training is done with the opponent in any Kamae but Seigan. As you cannot swat at the opponent's sword you feint with a Tsuki to the eyes or to Tanden (in the case of Gedan or Kyoei no Kamae). You can do the feint with both the long and short sword but you should always block the opponent's Kote with the sword you did the feint with. If your distance is too far the feint won't work, it basically has to be able to reach the opponent. I liked this technique because the Uke has a big role. A quick backward motion and then strike in with any cut. The feint to Tanden should be aimed properly, not at the stomach. Posted 21st January 2017 by Mei-tetsu 明哲 |
